Making an Animal

I made a penguin for my animal. Here are the steps:

1. I found a plastic water-bottle, and stripped off the label.

2. Then, I took some watercolor paints, and painted the whole bottle white.

3. I painted over that mostly black, with the white in a shape of the front of a penguin.

4. I waited for it to dry.

5. I got some orange pipe cleaners.

6. I shaped one pipe cleaner in the shape of two penguin feet, and wrapped it around the bottom of the bottle.

7. I took the other one, and made a beak out of it, and wrapped it around the bottle, so there was a beak.

8. I found a elbow length glove, and cut it in half.

9. I tied a knot on one of the halves, and it was a hat!

10. I put the hat on.

11.  I drew eyes on with a sharpie.

12. Done!

This was a fun project for me. It took me a while to figure out how I would make my animal, and what it would be. I chose a penguin, because I think they're really cute and funky. I chose black, white and orange as the colors, because it's their coloring, and I like all of those colors. I looked online for ideas, and found the bottle idea, and I thought it would work quite well!

I used acrylic paints, and that was fun. I think that if I could do it again, I wouldn't paint the whole thing white first, because when I painted the black over, it turned kind of greyish. I really think it was a fun assignment, but kind of challenging. It involved a bunch of planning, but I think it was a cool idea, I'd like to do someone similar again.
